Yoga for Sleep

We’ve all been there - after a hectic day of life you lay down and your mind is racing. Yoga has a few tools to help with sleep - all of which are highly customized. Below I want to share some basic tips that I have found useful for clients. Doesn’t hurt to try!

  1. Restorative Yoga: In your bed you can try some of these poses.

    • If you have a backboard or bed against the wall trying Legs Up the Wall for 5 minutes heres some science on why this works

    • I recommend starting with 5 minutes and then over time you can hold this as long as 10 minutes

    • When you are in this you can place your hands on your belly and start to deepen your exhales (so 4 inhale, 6-8 exhale)

Every client is different so if after doing the above pose you still are wired you can try additional restorative yoga poses holding each pose for up to 20 minutes.

2. Yoga Nidra

    • Once you are done with few pose, you can lay flat on your back and try Yoga Nidra
